Howarths, the people consultancy specialising in legal, safety and growth services, has received a trio of accolades at the Yorkshire & Humberside Family Business Awards.

The Cleckheaton based business, which has been supporting organisations from across the UK for over 20 years, received the Purpose Driven, Employee Excellence and the ultimate Family Business of the Year 2025 awards.

Andy Howarth, who started the business in 2003 alongside his wife Helen, comments: “When it was time for me to hand over the reins to my son Gavin, and the new team of shareholders, I put my passion into creating Howarths Foundation, which helps the hidden homeless and is supported in part by the Howarths business. I cannot begin to tell you how much this receiving the Purpose Driven accolade means to our small but hard-working team – it’s very special.”

Tracey Hopkins, who started at Howarths 19 years ago, received the Employee Excellence award in recognition of her incredible journey. She comments: “This award honestly feels less like it’s mine and more like a symbol of the incredible teamwork, culture, and support within our business. You don’t go from Office Junior to Co-Owner without the right people and the right environment and I’ve been lucky enough to have the very best around me.”

Taking the Family Business of the Year 2025 accolade topped the night for team Howarth, CEO Gavin Howarth adds: “It’s an incredible feeling to pick up an award, but this one truly reflects our approach to tackling everything we do with hard work, heart and grit.

“It is testament to the foundations that my mum and dad set but also to the exceptional team of people that are part of our business. They operate every day with a genuine passion for everything that they do. This award was for each and every one of them, thank you.”

The Yorkshire and Humberside Family Business Awards 2025 took place at The Royal Armouries in Leeds on Friday 21st November. Organised by The Family Business Community, the event brought together an audience of over 300, including family business leaders, their teams, and those that support the sector, to honour the innovation, resilience, and success of the Yorkshire and Humberside family businesses.
