Sharp has opened its new UK headquarters in Leeds, in 10,200 sq ft of space in the city’s South Central building.
The office houses nearly 100 of the company’s 700-plus UK staff and is one of 14 Sharp sites across the country. It also works as a showroom, where clients can see the company’s display, audio-visual, print and workplace technology in use. Sharp designed and fitted out the space with commercial interiors specialist Design Tonic.
City’s tech credentials
The company said it chose Leeds for its access to graduate talent and its fast-growing tech sector. According to the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, the sector is expanding well ahead of the national average.
Stuart Sykes, chief executive of Sharp UK, said: “Rather than telling organisations what a modern workplace can look like, we can now show them.”
Sharp UK is part of Japan’s Sharp Corporation, which employs more than 34,000 people worldwide.
