Saga Chief Welcomes May 17th Green Light

Saga cruise boss, Nick Stace, has welcomed government maritime minister, Robert Courts’ announcement that UK cruise lines will be able to restart domestic sailings on May 17th.

The MP’s disclosure came as he appeared at a virtual meeting of the All Party Parliamentary Maritime and Ports Group (APPMPG).

The group tweeted: **NEWS** Maritime Minister robertcourts announces the reopening of the domestic #cruise market in England on 17 May at tonight’s @APPMPG meeting.”

It then followed up by tweeting: “From repatriation procedures and risk mitigations to CV-19 protocols and the domestic vaccination programme, a great @APPMPG session w/ @robertcourts who delivered some much appreciated news. A pathway to the domestic cruise market re-opening on 17 May.”

Nick Stace, CEO of Saga Travel, said: “We welcome the news that the Government will allow domestic cruising to return from the 17th May. This is an important milestone in the resumption of cruise operations, albeit with some restrictions at first. We are working around the clock to get ready for resumption and to fulfil the pent-up demand we know is there for cruising.”
