Online Lithography Talks Offered In Leeds

Leeds based Stone Tree Press has announced its new online talks about stone lithography, set to take place this during our current lockdown.

Participants will be able to learn about the history of stone lithography, how it works and experience a virtual printing demonstration with printer and artist, Nora Hammenberg the founder and owner of Stone Tree Press. In February Stone Tree Press offers three online talks that will take place on the 9th, 16th and 23rd of February, from 6pm to 7pm.

The workshop opened its doors in 2018, bringing the traditional printing technique back to life in the city. Nora recognised a gap in the market, with few colleges, universities and educational institutions in West Yorkshire offering lithography as part of their curriculum.

Lithography is a traditional printing process in which printer/artists use a press to transfer drawings from a lithography stone to a paper. It is a process used to create original works of art, which can be produced multiple times. Nora Hammenberg is dedicated to passing on her knowledge of lithography where the education is in danger of being lost.

The online talks are suitable for everyone, and are great for those of you who are interested in lithography as an art form or like to learn about a new printmaking technique.

This could be a great start for artists who are interested in attending a physical course when the print workshop opens again. When the workshops open again, Stone Tree Press is also open to collaborative projects with artists and institutions and is happy to arrange private training sessions by appointment when the .
