North East Campsite Named Most Dog Friendly In The UK
A five-star campsite in Northumberland is celebrating after being named the UK’s most dog-friendly at the 2025 DogFriendly Awards.
Herding Hill Farm Camping and Glamping Site, near Haltwhistle, won the award for best Camping and Caravanning site at the ceremony in London.
Voted for by the public, the DogFriendly Awards give dog owners the chance to recognise and reward dog-friendly locations and pet-related businesses.
Herding Hill Farm picked up the top award jointly with its sister sites Longnor Wood Holiday Park, near Buxton, and Drummohr Camping and Glamping Site, near Edinburgh. All three sites are part of the WCF employee-owned family of businesses which operates across the UK in the leisure, retail and logistics sectors.
Patrick Stewart, site manager at Herding Hill Farm and general manager at WCF Leisure, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be recognised for our commitment to creating fantastic destinations for dog owners and their pets. The fact that this award is voted for by the public and shared jointly across WCF’s three sites makes it even more special.
“Our aim is to provide all guests with a five-star experience, including dogs.
“We take pride in going the extra mile by offering dog-friendly facilities such as a hot water dog wash area for muddy pups and a dedicated dog-walking area on site. As well as offering pet-friendly accommodation, up to two dogs can stay free of charge on our tent and touring pitches.
“It’s really important to us that people feel comfortable and relaxed bringing their pets on holiday with them so they can join in the fun too.”
The 14th DogFriendly Awards ceremony took place at the Kennel Club head office in London. Other categories included Best Pet Shop, Best Town, Best Days Out (including Splash and Dog Parks), Best Hotel and B&Bs, and Best Kennels and Home Boarding.
Located less than a mile from Hadrian’s Wall, Herding Hill Farm is an AA Platinum Pennant and Visit England 5-star camping and glamping site. Accommodation includes luxury adult-only Castle pods with hot tubs, as well as family-friendly Wigwam cabins and a holiday lodge. Both hard-standing and grass pitches are available for touring and tents, all with electric. Open all year round, the site also features its own petting farm, as well as a playground and ball field.
