Make It Bloom This Spring With The Perfect Colourful Planter
Spring is the perfect time to refresh outdoor spaces with a burst of colour, and as part of the Make It Bloom campaign, British Garden Centres is encouraging gardeners of all abilities to get creative with vibrant spring planters.
Whether brightening a doorstep, patio or garden, creating a professional‑looking display is simple with the right plants and a few easy steps. British Garden Centres’ Make It Bloom campaign is all about making gardening accessible, inspiring confidence and helping everyone enjoy a colourful spring.
Step 1: Choose your container
Select a planter with good drainage to keep plants healthy. Outdoor pots should be sturdy enough to handle spring weather.
Step 2: Get your compost
Using a high-quality compost, such as multi-purpose peat-free compost, will give your plants the best start. Fill your planter two-thirds full, leaving room for plants.
Step 3: Spring Plants
The best step is selecting your spring plants to fill your planter with. Visit your local British Garden Centre, and shop our full selection of plants, whether you are shopping with a specific colour palette in mind or just looking for different plant types.
Step 4: Time to Plant
With all your plants selected, it’s time to plant! Loosen the root ball from the pot and place it in your new pot. Once done, backfill with compost around it before firming it in place. Leave space at the top of the planter for water to flow through.
Step 5: Watering!
Water thoroughly after planting and place your planter somewhere it will receive the correct amount of light for your chosen plants.
Make sure to sit back and enjoy your garden planter throughout the spring season.
The Make It Bloom by British Garden Centres campaign is designed to inspire gardeners to grow with confidence, offering expert advice, quality plants and everything needed to create beautiful seasonal displays.
