MP And His Dog To Cut The Ribbon On New Secure Dog Field Near Wombleton

Kevin Hollinrake and ZuZu will officially open Ryedale's newest doggy retreat on 1 October

A new secure dog exercise field opening near Wombleton this October will be officially launched by local MP Kevin Hollinrake and his dog ZuZu, who are due to cut the ribbon at 4pm on Thursday 1 October.

Wombleton Dog Field has been created by local dog lovers Charlotte and Joe Rooke on their family farm in the heart of Ryedale, providing a safe, secure and friendly place for dogs to run free and enjoy the North Yorkshire countryside.

The fully enclosed one-acre paddock features an 8ft fence, allowing owners to relax while their dogs run, sniff, explore and play off the lead. It has been designed to welcome dogs of all shapes, sizes and temperaments, from energetic youngsters to nervous or reactive dogs who may prefer a little more space and privacy than busy public walking routes allow.

The field will be open to everyone, from local dog owners, professional dog walkers and trainers to holidaymakers visiting the area, with the Rookes also planning to add puppy classes and socialisation sessions in future.

"We're all huge dog lovers and wanted to create something special for local people and their pooches to enjoy," said Joe Rooke. "We wanted somewhere safe, secure and beautiful where every dog is welcome and can simply enjoy being off the lead. We're thrilled that Kevin and ZuZu will be joining us to officially open the field — it feels like the perfect way to start our new adventure."

Hollinrake said it was "always a pleasure to visit new local businesses across Ryedale", adding: "This one is a particular treat, as ZuZu will tell you. Charlotte and Joe have created a fantastic facility that will give dogs across Ryedale a safe and secure place to run free. I'm delighted to be cutting the ribbon alongside ZuZu on 1st October, and I'd encourage all local dog owners to come along and see what they've built."

The ribbon-cutting takes place at Wombleton Dog Field at 4pm on 1 October, with Hollinrake and ZuZu among the first through the gate to explore the new field.
