Lawyers in the Lincoln and York offices at Langleys Solicitors have been celebrating with a series of promotions this month, with the firm appointing two new partners and four associates.

James Bradley, who has been head of the York Commercial Property team since March, has been promoted to partner. James joined Langleys as a trainee in 2010 and specialises in landlord and tenant work, as well as the sale and purchase of commercial investment properties including recently helping York St John University increase its portfolio of city centre campus accommodation.

The Lincoln office of the law firm also has a new partner – Luke Rees – on the Corporate team. Since joining Langleys in 2019, Luke has worked on advising on mergers, acquisitions and sales, investment work, business structuring and corporate governance. He recently advised the family-owned Lincolnshire gin distillery, Bottomley Distillers, on their merger with US-based Next Frontier Brands.

In addition to the two new partners, Sheena Hall, Natalie Wiles and James Spittlehouse in Lincoln, and Dave Maclaurin in York have been made associates.

James, Sheena and Natalie work in the Commercial Property, Claimant Personal Injury and Family teams, respectively. They are three of the nine Chartered Legal Executives at Langleys who have been supported by the firm in their alternative route into the law. James qualified as a solicitor in 2018.

Tim Cross, managing partner at Langleys Solicitors, said: “Our most important asset is our people and it is a delight to be able to develop and recognise the talented individuals we have here at Langleys, and celebrate and support them in their individual careers. Each person has contributed significantly to the recent success of the business.

“Everyone in the business has performed with real resilience and determination during the pandemic, and that has been reflected in these promotions. We are a sum of our parts and our new partners and associates, along with everyone else at Langleys will continue to maintain our position as a leading firm in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire – it’s an exciting time for the business.”

Speaking about his promotion to partner, James Bradley said: “Having joined the firm as a Trainee Solicitor in 2010, I am delighted to be appointed as a Partner at Langleys in 2020. Over that period, I have watched the firm develop into the modern and forward-thinking practice it is today. The firm bases itself on a core set of values with the requirement that our clients receive a quality service at the forefront of that. There are exciting times ahead for the firm and I look forward to playing a part in those in future.”

Luke Rees commented: “My time at Langleys has absolutely flown by. I knew very quickly after joining the firm that it was the right place for me, as its ethos and values are aligned with mine. The firm is a great place to be and we have some really talented people here, and more importantly a great team spirit. The last year has seen a really pleasing level of growth in the Corporate team. We have undertaken some really high-quality work, acting for some great clients and I am really excited about continuing on this trajectory. I am really honoured to have been made a partner the firm and I look forward to playing my part in continuing to establish Langleys as the go to commercial firm in both Lincoln and York.”
