Huddersfield Developer Shines In Yorkshire Residential Building Awards

Yorkshire residential property developer Vivly Living has shone in two regional residential property awards competitions this year.

The Huddersfield-based developer won the Residential Development of the Year (under 100 homes) accolade in this year’s Yorkshire Insider Property Industry Awards and was shortlisted in the Residential Housebuilder of the Year category in the same competition.

Meanwhile Vivly was also shortlisted in the Best Residential Developer and Best Small Development categories in the Yorkshire Residential Real Estate Awards, best known as the Yorkshires and run by the Yorkshire Children’s Charity.

These honours come hard on the heels of winning two major categories in the national WhatHouse? Awards. Vivly was also shortlisted in Yorkshire Residential Real Estate and Yorkshire Business Insider Property awards in 2023.

Vivly Living’s Whistle Bell Court development at Skelmanthorpe was the project that triumphed in the Residential Development of the Year in the Insider awards. Only two of Vivly’s 30 homes at Whistle Bell Court remain unsold, providing much-needed housing, including a significant number of starter homes, enabling young people to get on to the property ladder.

Paul Brown, Vivly Living’s managing director, commented: “This triumph was wonderful news. We are tremendously proud of our Whistle Bell Court development in Skelmanthorpe and it is a fantastic showcase for us. We are very conscious of building sustainable homes with both character and individuality, which blend in seamlessly with their immediate surroundings. Traditional stone exteriors, combined with contemporary interiors and stunning views, make our properties highly prized and unique. We are delighted they have proved so popular.

“Situated in the breathtaking Yorkshire countryside, yet still within reach of excellent local amenities, our picturesque development provides the best of both worlds with a vibrant yet peaceful lifestyle. It is also close to Huddersfield, recently named as the UK’s premier property hotspot, and has excellent links to Leeds, Wakefield and Barnsley.”

Paul Brown said he – and all his colleagues at Vivly Living - were “incredibly honoured” to have been shortlisted in the Best Residential Developer category in both the Yorkshires and the Insider awards against stiff opposition.

“Whilst Whistle Bell Court won the Best Small Development, our Best Residential Developer shortlisting in both competition categories highlights the success we have enjoyed across all our West Yorkshire sites, including Shepley and Denby Dale.”

The Willows at Denby Dale, which was shortlisted in the Yorkshires’ Best Small Development category, features 34 1-4 bed houses including eight one-bed starter homes. Already 27 of the Denby Dale homes have been bought or reserved. Prices range from £399,950 (all the starter homes are now reserved or sold) to £590,000 and the development is almost fully completed.

One of Vivly’s most successful developments over the past 12 months has been Knowle Grange at Abbey Road, Shepley. Phase 1 of this development, which comprises 31 stone-built houses, ranging from one bed to five beds, has completely sold out. Work has now started on site for Phase 2, comprising a further 52 homes, which are scheduled to be completed by mid-2027. Selected 2-bed ‘First Homes’, launched recently, are selling fast.

Paul Brown explained: “In total, we are currently building 147 beautiful, high-quality homes – from two-bed starter homes to five-bed family homes and we have a significant pipeline of sites for new homes across Yorkshire. Given the current uncertainty of the mortgage and financial markets, we are placing more emphasis than ever on high-quality and product differentiation.”

He added: “We all know the challenging conditions that the residential property market currently faces, and we are doing everything we can to make it easier for people and families to buy and move house.”

Oliver Bottomley, Vivly Living’s Associate Director, Land and Development, added: “These honours in the Yorkshires and the Yorkshire Insider awards, taken in conjunction with our recent success in both regional and national awards, mean a tremendous amount to us and reflects so well on our hard-working and talented team.

“We are committed to breaking down the barriers to home ownership by offering a suite of benefits tailored to individual circumstances, so that we can support buyers at every stage of their journey.”
