Family-Run Yorkshire Campsites Scoop Top Honours

Catgill Farm Camping & Glamping
Catgill Farm Camping & Glamping
The husband-and-wife team behind two of Yorkshire’s most beloved getaways, Howgill Lodge and Catgill Farm Camping & Glamping, have achieved a remarkable double success in this year’s UK campsite.co.uk awards.

Howgill Lodge has been awarded the coveted Winner North East England title, while Catgill Farm has been named runner-up, a significant milestone for the family-run firm of Cat and Oliver Barker, demonstrating their dedication to high-quality outdoor hospitality in the heart of the Dales.

“We’re absolutely delighted to be recognised in the awards,” said Cat Barker. "We never set out just to offer a place to pitch up, we always wanted people to arrive and immediately feel part of something special. Seeing Howgill take the top spot and Catgill named runner-up is really special to us. It reflects the hard work and heart our whole team puts in, and the fact we really do love what we do.”

Oliver added: “The Dales do a lot of the heavy lifting, it’s a pretty magical backdrop! But we always try to add the little touches that make people smile. Whether it’s families, couples or friends, we want everyone to make great memories here. Having both sites recognised this year feels like a lovely reward for the whole team. And we’ve already got a few exciting plans lined up for next year to make stays even better.

Commenting on the awards, Martin Smith, founder of Campsites.co.uk, said: “Our annual awards give us the opportunity to celebrate the UK’s best campsites, and this year’s standards feel higher than ever. Each of the winning sites stand out for the care they put into being consistently excellent. My thanks and congratulations to all of the winners for adding some much-needed adventure to everyday life!”

As the Barkers reflect on their journey from farm to award-winning outdoor hospitality, the message is clear: “great stays happen when you care about every single guest visit.”
