- 56% of people in Yorkshire would like to win a large cash prize this New Year to pay off debts
- Women would be twice as happy as men to lose weight in 2012
- A quarter (25%) of those in Yorkshire want to fall in love this year
After a cash strapped Christmas for most UK consumers and with 'Blue Monday' just around the corner, new research has revealed what will really make those in Yorkshire happy this New Year. Over half would like to win a large cash prize to pay off debts, 55% believe that health is wealth and more than a third would like to lose weight in 2012.
It's no wonder that people in Yorkshire are dreaming of winning money to pay off their debts, give up work (36%) or give their house a makeover (20%) as January is often the darkest of months. Christmas is a distant memory, festive debt has piled up, bills are landing on doormats across the country, the weather is foul and New Year resolutions have failed.
However, the survey of 3,000 people by pchprizes.co.uk, the UK's first free to enter cash prize draw website, also found that whilst January can often be a gloomy month, a third (31%) of UK consumers are happy with their lot and over three-quarters of the over-55 baby boomer generation were most happy to be healthy. Men and women both voted for the similar choices in what would make them happy but more men would like to win a large cash prize to give up work and in contrast, more women would like to lose weight.
James Lowe, Prize Manager at pchprizes.co.uk, commented: "The first month of the year is traditionally a 'blue' time for most, but for those consumers who dream of winning a cash prize to pay off debts, one lucky person will be celebrating winning the free prize draw of £100,000. We'll be presenting the prize to the winner in the last week of January and that's certain to abolish any disconsolate New Year blues!"
