Two gardening experts from York are lending their support for free during this year's National Gardening Week.

Vanessa Cook and vegetable gardening expert Tony Chalcraft will be available at Stillingfleet Lodge Gardens and Nurseries, near York, to answer questions and provide hints and tips on how to make the most of your garden.

This FREE event takes place on Friday 17th April between 1pm and 5pm with refreshments available from the café.

Stillingfleet is recognised by the Royal Horticultural Society as a 'partner garden' because of it exceptionally high standards of planting and design. It attracts national press coverage, international visitors, gardening writers and gardening groups.

Launched by the Royal Horticultural Society four years to get the nation growing, the week runs from Monday 13 to Sunday 19 April. Visit nationalgardeningweek.org.uk for information about other events.
Vanessa, who has been gardening at Stillingfleet for over 30 years said:

"Gardening protects our environment, strengthens communities, helps children learn, and contributes to happy, healthy lives. Through National Gardening Week, thousands of people across the country are coming together to share and celebrate everything about gardens and gardening.

"Tony Chalcraft has a tremendous amount of knowledge and insight to share about growing vegetables in Yorkshire gardens. He will tell you how to get a bumper crop in 2015, from carrots to caulis and tatties to turnips.
