One of Teesside's top bistros has landed another top accolade. For the third year running, Howards, in Stokesley, has been included in the new edition of one of the UK's most important restaurant guides.

The Harden's UK Restaurant Survey is published annually and is the biggest survey of restaurant-goers in the UK, based on independent and unbiased reviews from over 85,000 reports.

Howards is one of the only restaurants in Teesside and North Yorkshire to be recommended by Harden's 2012 guide, having also featured in 2010 and 2011.

The guide, whose mission statement is to 'tell it like it is', describes Howards as, "A smart village diner" offering an "imaginative menu" and a "good selection of wines" and "comes unanimously recommended".

Howards is singled out in the guide alongside big names such as London restaurants Scott's, The Wolseley and J Sheekey and famous chefs including Heston Blumenthal, Michel Roux Jr and Rick Stein.

This latest accolade comes just weeks after Howards picked up a Breakfast of the Year award. For the last two years, Howards has earned the honour at the Flavours of Herriot Country Awards, formerly the Flavours of Hambleton Awards, for its breakfast menu which includes traditional English breakfast and breakfast sandwiches as well as smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, scones, teacakes and lighter breakfast options.

Howard's prides itself on using locally-sourced ingredients wherever possible including meat from Petch's in Great Ayton and bread from the Danby Stonehouse Bakery in North Yorkshire.

Howards is owned by local businessman, Graham Howard, with popular names Peter Holligon, as restaurant manager, and Michael Chase as head chef.
