A kind-hearted mum from Leeds is supporting her daughter's junior school by making a generous donation as part of Yorkshire Bank's Employee Volunteer Grants Programme.

Mum-of-two, Vicki Maynard, applied for an Employee Volunteer Grant from Yorkshire Bank at the end of last year to provide much needed funds to buy outdoor toys and new fencing for Queenswood School in Morley.

Vicki, 44, is a Team Leader in the Business Lending Services Department at Yorkshire Bank on Merrion Way in Leeds and her 11-year-old daughter Fiona is a pupil at the school.

Having been involved with the Friends of Queenswood School, a committee made up of parents, teachers and friends of the school for nearly nine years, Vicki is dedicated to raising as much money as possible to benefit the pupils. Last year, thanks to money raised by the committee, the school was able to lay safety tarmac for the younger pupils, and this year thanks to the £500 Employee Volunteer Grant they will be able to buy new play equipment such as slides and climbing equipment for the area. The money will also go towards new fencing to ensure the school playground is secure.

Vicki said: "Having had one daughter at Queenswood School and one still there, when the opportunity to apply for the Employee Volunteer Grant came up I jumped at the chance to be able to help support the school by providing these essential funds. It's great to know that pupils at the school will really benefit from the donation."

Yorkshire Bank's Employee Volunteer Grants Programme funds charitable initiatives that its employees are passionate about. Employees can apply for a grant of up to £500 if they are involved with local community groups in their own time. This includes local charities or not-for-profit organisations such as schools, brownies, scouts or sports groups. The money helps the groups continue their work in the local community.

Jacqui Atkinson, Community Affairs Manager at Yorkshire Bank said: "Yorkshire Bank's Employee Volunteer Programme recognises the great community work our employees are involved in outside of the Bank's own extensive volunteering programme. Any employee that is involved in a charity or not-for-profit organisation in their own time is eligible to apply for a grant.

"We actively encourage our employees to become involved in voluntary work within their own community and our grants programme is just one way we can support the valuable contribution they make in helping others."
The employee grants are provided through the Yorkshire and Clydesdale Bank Foundation, a registered charity established by the Banks in 2008.
