However, this is not a new sport. I have been attending these types for years; mainly at Oulton Park, Silverstone, Donington park and Cadwell, all of which, and many more, are run by the Vintage Sports Car Club (VSCC) which has 7,500 members from across the world.
They cater for owners of cars from the 1920s and 1930s. The club is made up of people from all walks of life and, whether you are a marshal, spectator or competitor, there is no difference or elitism. You are all there for one goal - the survival and passion of vintage cars!
So what sorts of car compete at these events? Firstly, and most impressively, is the 24 litre Napier Bentley, which is a awesome car to watch. Racing people often talk about toque when it comes to modern cars - well no modern car could even come close this is a car which can and will light up its rear tyres in any gear.
Then, at the other end of the spectrum, are Austin 7's with 750cc, however these car shouldn't be underestimated - in the right tune they are seriously fast cars with other makes from a golden era like Bugatti, Riley and ERA.
There is a serious amount of fun that can be had in these sorts of cars, not just in owning but also because of the huge growing social scene - whether it be a local pub meeting or a grand international rally or holiday.
There is also the added benefit of having money invested in a tangible asset which, in the past few years, has seen significant value increases out-performing the stock markets many times over.
