Yorkshire Single Malt Whisky Distillery Launches Its First Sherry Cask Special Release

The team at Yorkshire's first single malt whisky distillery have launched a limited edition sherry cask reserve whisky.

Filey Bay Sherry Cask Reserve #1 is Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery's sixth whisky and is the Hunmanby based distillery's first fully sherry cask matured whisky.

Of the launch, Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery Whisky Director, Joe Clark said: "This is an incredibly special and rare whisky that has been fully matured in the only Oloroso sherry casks that we filed in 2017, so it can never be replicated.

"Oloroso sherry is known for its nutty aromas, autumnal and wintery notes and full-bodied yet elegant flavour. Our 100% pot distilled spirit has beautifully extracted these flavours and cues from the wood over the past three years, creating a rich and spicy single malt that is perfect for the festive season, if it lasts that long!"

Filey Bay Sherry Cask Reserve #1's tasting notes are ‘rich, fruity and spicy with flavours of Christmas cake, orange peel, brown sugar, cocoa and caramel.'

Filey Bay Sherry Cask Reserve #1costs £70 for a 70cl bottle and only 2000 are available. They are on sale now from the distillery shop, Booths Country Stores and online at spiritofyorkshire.com.

Spirit of Yorkshire was launched in 2016 and is a collaboration between farmer and brewer, Tom Mellor from Wold Top Brewery and business partner, David Thompson.
