York City Latest - January 2022

Here is the latest on The Minstermen and all you need to know for the upcoming month:

Bradford Park Avenue Postponements

Following the Boxing Day postponement at Bradford PA and the reverse fixture on Sunday 2nd January being called off too, an update has been made.

Our home game (originally scheduled for 2 Jan) against Bradford Park Avenue has been rearranged for Tuesday 25th January, kickoff will be at 7:45pm at the LNER Community Stadium.

Talks are still ongoing regarding the away fixture postponed on Boxing Day.

AFC Fylde Trip Called Off

Earlier this week, amid speculation, it was confirmed that this Saturday’s huge trip to AFC Fylde has been cancelled due to COVID cases in the Fylde camp. This leaves City still yet to play a game in 2022.

A new date will be announced in due course.

North Riding Senior Cup

Another rearrangement has been made, for the North Riding Senior Cup Second Round tie away at Whitby Town. The new date means the match will be played on Tuesday 11th January, with a 7:45pm kickoff at the Towbar Express Stadium.

The two sides have already met twice this season - York came away 2-1 winners in a pre-season friendly and also cruised past The Seasiders with a 2-0 victory in the FA Cup.

The winner of this game will face Scarborough Athletic away in the quarter-final.

Upcoming Fixtures

In what will be their first game of 2022, York City are due to host Slough Town in the Buildbase FA Trophy Fourth Round on Saturday 15th January (3pm).

Following this game, The Minstermen return to league action in a particularly tough couple of fixtures. First, York will travel to Kidderminster Harriers on Saturday 22nd January (3pm) before 2nd placed Gateshead visit the LNER Community Stadium on Saturday 29th January (3pm).
