Today At The Games: Paris 2024 Day 11

There were four more medals for Team GB on Tuesday, with more on the way following today’s action.
There were silvers on the cycling and running tracks, while Sky Brown and Lewis Richardson earned gutsy bronzes.
Athletics

Josh Kerr secured Team GB’s third athletics medal of the Games and first silver in the men’s 1500m.
The 26-year-old ran a new national record of 3:27.79 to upgrade his bronze from Tokyo, with American Cole Hocker running an Olympic record to take gold.
“I'm really proud of the way I executed today,” said Kerr. “I'm just glad I could add another medal to the tally for Team GB.
"I said what my goals were and it was pretty obvious, but I've put out a performance today that I can be super proud of."
Neil Gourley was tenth with a time of 3:30.88.
Matthew Hudson-Smith cruised into the men’s 400m final, comprehensively winning his semi-final, while teammate Charlie Dobson finished fourth in his semi-final.
Dina Asher-Smith and Daryll Neita were fourth and fifth respectively in the women’s 200m final.
Elizabeth Bird finished seventh in the women’s 3000m steeplechase with a national record time of 9:04.35, while Jacob Fincham-Dukes finished fifth in the long jump with 8.14m.
Laura Muir and Georgia Bell both qualified for the women's 1500m semi-final on Thursday. Muir, an Olympic silver medallist from Tokyo, progressed in 3:58.91, while Bell ran in 4:00.29. Revee Walcott-Nolan was unable to qualify automatically and entered the repechage.

Meanwhile, Victoria Ohuruogu progressed to the women's 400m semi-final after winning her repechage race.
Lina Nielsen and Jessie Knight did not qualify for the women’s 400m hurdles final.
Track Cycling
It's two track cycling medals in two track events for Team GB after the men’s sprint team secured silver.
Jack Carlin, Hamish Turnbull and Ed Lowe secured a spot in the gold medal race with a win over Germany, before the Dutch set a world record in the final to win gold.
Turnbull said: “It's a really nice feeling racing in front of this crowd, so many people on our shoulder and big thanks to everyone at home who's cheering us on as well, we really appreciate it.”
Team GB are also guaranteed at least a silver medal in tomorrow’s men’s team pursuit after qualifying for the gold medal race with a hard-fought victory over Tokyo silver medallists Denmark.
The women’s team pursuit squad qualified third with a time of 4:06.710 and face the United States tomorrow for a spot in the gold medal final.
Skateboarding: Women’s Park
Sky Brown picked up her second Olympic bronze medal at the age of just 16, with a stunning routine in the women’s park final.
Bouncing back from a fall in qualifying, Brown produced a sublime score of 92.31 in her final round to place on the podium behind Arisa Trew of Australia and Cocona Hiraki of Japan.
Teammate Lola Tambling finished 15th.
Boxing
Lewis Richardson secured Team GB’s first and only boxing medal of the Olympics with men’s light-middleweight bronze.
The 27-year-old was beaten by Mexican Marco Verde in a split decision in his men’s 71kg semi-final.
Around the Games
In sailing, John Gimson and Anna Burnet qualified for tomorrow’s medal race in third place, following a solid set of performances in today’s races.
A lack of wind meant Michael Beckett will have to wait until tomorrow for his medal race, while Vita Heathcote and Chris Grube finished 11th in the mixed dinghy.
Ellie Aldridge is joint-first in the men’s kite, while Connor Bainbridge sits eighth in the men’s.
Divers Jack Laugher and Jordan Houlden both qualified for tomorrow’s men’s 3m springboard semi-finals, Laugher in third place and Houlden in fourth.
Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix placed sixth in the women’s 10m platform after scoring 345.50.
Scott Brash and Ben Maher both picked up four penalties in the equestrian individual jumping event, finishing sixth and ninth respectively.
Harry Charles, who earned gold with Brash and Maher in the team competition, withdrew from the final after his horse Romeo 88 suffered a "small overreach" on Monday.
In climbing, Erin McNeice scored 59.6 to finish 10th in the boulder semi-final, while Molly Thompson-Smith scored 9.8 to place 19th.
The lead semi-final will take place on Thursday. Scores are combined and the top eight make the combined final.
