The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority Wants To Hear Young Voices On The Future Of The National Park

The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority is reaching out to young people for their views on what the National Park should look like by 2040.

This is an important ‘next step’ in the process of creating a new Local Plan - which will run from 2023 to 2040 - containing the planning policies that will guide what development can and can’t take place in the National Park.

Neil Heseltine, Chairman of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, said:
“It’s critical we hear the voices of younger people; those who live inside and outside the National Park. I want to hear what young people think about the great issues we face around climate change and nature reduction, and how our landscapes should be managed for their future. What do young people think about living and working here? What should the National Park should look like by 2040?

“For example, should we be building lots more houses in the National Park? Should new housing have on-site renewable energy generation? Should we be creating more room for wildlife? So ask yourself: what does your National Park look like?”



A slimmed down version of the current consultation has been created to capture comments, which will feed into the next stage of the development of a new Local Plan.
