The Holy Island Power Of Pilgrims Coffee!

If you fancy an ‘eco’ coffee with a difference then Northumerland's Holy Island is the destination….but make sure you take your wellies with you!

Sitting one mile off the north east coast of England, located mid-way between Newcastle and Edinburgh, the historic and beautiful island of Lindisfarne (aka Holy Island) welcomes guests daily.

However, it is cut off by the sea twice a day meaning visitors have to be ‘tide aware’ both on their way there and en-route back to the ‘mainland’.

The island not only boasts beautiful landscapes, but also has a raft of thriving artisan businesses including family-run, ethical coffee roastery and café, Pilgrims Coffee House which sells homemade and locally sourced seasonal food.

Renewable Energy
The family-run café and roastery is powered entirely by renewable energy, with all disposables made from compostable materials and all food items sourced from local producers where possible.

The coffee roastery, with beans sourced from fairly traded and Rainforest Alliance Certified farms, offers unique blends from small scale producers, and can be found nestled within the café garden. Be sure to pick up a bag of Pilgrims Coffee’s famous coffee beans – all ethically sourced, sustainably packaged and freshly roasted on the island.

Popular blends include the Daily Bread – mixing Central and South American beans for a sweet, full-bodied taste – and the Holy Grail, a premium blend comprised of organic coffees sourced from some of the world’s finest growers.

If you miss the tide or are unable to make it to the island, you can still enjoy a taste of Holy Island from home with Pilgrims Coffee House’s online store – providing the UK’s coffee lovers with top quality beans right to their door. The ‘Coffee Commandments’ blog series is written by the roaster himself, and will help you to brew the perfect cup from home.
