The purchase of new homes across Yorkshire has surged in the last few months, buoyed by pent-up demand and consumer confidence, according to Linden Homes.

The housebuilder has reported strong sales at its new homes developments across Yorkshire, with activity returning to pre-Covid levels. The Yorkshire region recorded 27 reservations between March and July, the prominent UK lockdown period.

Andrew Handslip, Head of Sales at Linden Homes Yorkshire, said: “During lockdown, our sales teams continued to work with customers who were looking to move. However, since our sales offices reopened, enquiries across our sites have multiplied, defying the usual summer holiday lull.”

Yorkshire is the top-performing region in the country according to latest data from Home.co.uk, which shows a massive 8.1% price growth year-on-year.

Andrew continues: “Confidence in the new homes market remains strong, with buyers looking to take advantage of government initiatives, such as the stamp duty holiday and extension to Help to Buy, to enable them to purchase their own homes.

“We are seeing a range of buyers, from first-time buyers looking to get that all-important foothold on the property ladder, to existing homeowners looking to move to larger homes with more space.

“The rise of homeworking has had a significant effect, causing many homeowners to reassess the suitability of their homes and the workspaces they have. Many of our buyers are looking for a study or additional bedroom to accommodate a home office.

“We are also seeing purchasers who are willing to move further away from their places of work, as the frequency at which they are required to commute into the office has reduced.

“Demand for their own outside space has also jumped to the top of the wish-list, along with easy access to green open spaces and countryside.

Andrew concludes: “The housing market post-lockdown has certainly changed, but we are seeing a renewed vigour for new homes. We would encourage prospective house hunters to visit our website for further information on Linden Homes developments across Yorkshire.

“Visits to our sales offices are by appointment only and we have put in place stringent measures to ensure the health and safety of our staff and visitors.”
