Skipton Library Celebrating Pyjamarama

This Friday is ‘Pyjamarama’ Day! Pyjamarama is about celebrating bedtime stories, sharing a love of reading, and most importantly, having fun in your pyjamas!

Skipton Library may be closed due to Covid-19, but there are still opportunities to have lots of fun in your pyjamas for Pyjamarama, and we hope you will too. Skipton’s digital library is always open. As well as junior ebooks and audio books, they have Comics, Encyclopaedia Britannica and Ziptales for children, all free with your library card. Not a member? Join here:

The Reading Well Collection is also available online. This collection supports the mental health and wellbeing of children, providing children and their families and carers with information, advice and support for coping with feelings and worries, daily life and getting through a tough time.

Skipton Library’s Story time and Rhyme time sessions are now on Facebook. In addition, they post daily ideas for things to do such as Lego Challenge, Scavenger Hunt, links to other interesting websites and non-screen activity ideas. For those of you who use the library and recognise Clifford the Sheep and the story time toys, look out for their Facebook updates every week too. Follow the library www.facebook.com/skiptonlibrary and look out for special Pyjamarama Facebook posts this week, including songs and rhymes, and if you want to, please share a photo of you having fun and sharing stories in your pyjamas on Friday.

Every year BookTrust give children a free book for Pyjamarama. This year the book is My Pet Star by Corrinne Averiss. This story follows the adventures of a star that falls from the sky and is cared for by a little girl. She introduces him to all the things she loves until it’s time to say goodbye.

The ebook is available to borrow, but don’t forget to call in to the library when it re-opens to pick up your free copy of this book and an activity sheet.

We hope you enjoy sharing stories this week. So…
