The Grand Hotel in York has launched a series of new virtual cookery classes giving participants the chance to learn from an experienced head chef and grow culinary skills at home.

The immersive and interactive classes will be led by head chef tutor, Andrew Dixon, who has overseen the Cookery School at The Grand since its launch in 2019.

Each class is around two hours in length and will include a guided cook-along where Andrew will be on hand to answer questions and provide expertise on how to craft the perfect dish.

Andrew commented:

“We’re excited to launch our new virtual offering by bringing the Cookery School into people’s homes. The classes are extremely fun, and we have some great meals planned where people can put their skills to the test or simply enjoy creating a family favourite together.”

Participants will be given a recipe pack which includes a step by step guide on how to create the meal, as well as a full list of ingredients and equipment required.

Simon Mahon, General Manager said:

“The Cookery School has been a firm favourite for many home chefs and those that really want to add a little expertise to their cooking since its launch and we’re keen to continue to support those wanting to build on their cooking skills at home throughout lockdown.”

The virtual classes will launch on the 9th of February with a Thai Green Curry night followed by a special Valentine’s Day Beef Wellington class on the 14th, perfect for couples looking to create a romantic meal for two at home.

Sounds a grand idea to me!
