M180 Closures For Urgent Repairs Start This Weekend

Drivers making journeys on the M180 are being advised that starting this weekend the westbound carriageway will be closed overnight for three weeks so urgent repair work can be carried out.

Resurfacing work between junctions 3 and 1 will start on Saturday (27 June). So the work can be carried out safely the road will need to be closed westbound overnight between 8pm and 6am until Tuesday 14 July.

The carriageway surface is deteriorating and urgently needs joint repairs as well as resurfacing, to provide drivers with safer and smoother journeys.

To complete the job as safely and quickly as possible a number of additional closures will also be required:

24/7 closures of westbound junction 2 entry and exit slip roads from Saturday 4 July to Tuesday 14 July
An overnight lane closure on the westbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 1 from Wednesday 15 July to Sunday 19 July, with a 50mph speed limit in operation
A daytime lane closure on the westbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 1 from Monday 29 June to Sunday 12 July with a 50mph speed limit in operation.

Fully-signed diversions will be in place, which have been agreed with the local authorities and the police. These will take drivers off the M180 at junction 3, following the A18 and re-joining the M180 at junction 1.

All Highways England sites have strict safeguarding measures, in line with Public Health England guidance, to prevent the spread of COVID19 and none of the sites are open to the public.
