Live Music Returns To Bradford Cathedral

After a gap of six months, live music will return to Bradford Cathedral with a series of high-quality music recitals from October – December, that will be available for people to watch in the cathedral or streamed online to wherever they are.

The season will begin on Tuesday 13th October at 1pm with award-winning, Jordanian-Palestinian concert pianist Iyad Sughayer.

Subsequent dates all take place at 12.30pm. They will happen twice a month and alternate between a Tuesday and Wednesday. They will include Director of Music Alex Berry and Assistant Director of Music Graham Thorpe on organ; soprano Martha Hayward; Daniel Lappin and Sarah Lambon flute and clarinet; and Gordon Stewart on organ.

There are only 36 tickets available for each concert, which must be acquired via the Bradford Cathedral Eventbrite page, available on the website, but all dates can be watched live on YouTube.

The concerts are free to attend in person or view online, but are offered on a ‘pay as you feel’ basis, with money raised helping to support the series and the work of Bradford Cathedral.

More details about the musicians and how the events will be managed for safety are available on the cathedral website or on social media.

Alex Berry, Director of Music at Bradford Cathedral, says of the series:
“It is a great pleasure to be able to host concerts in the cathedral once again after six long months. We have worked hard to make the cathedral a safe and comfortable place to be, and I know that hearing live music will be a great comfort to so many people during these strange times.

“I am especially delighted that Iyad Sughayer will be opening the series - his playing is electrifying and will sound glorious in the cathedral's acoustic.”
