In Conversation With PETCH

Hot off the heels of her acclaimed performances opening for multimillion-selling rock legends Placebo at Shepherd’s Bush Empire and international festivals, 14-year-old Thai rock sensation Vimolwan Saisathit, a.k.a. PETCH, released her latest single, Ultraviolet. We caught up with her to learn more.


Morning Petch, how are you?

Surviving! I have been very busy performing at festivals. I loved it, though!

For those not in the know, tell us all about yourself...

My name is PETCH; it means diamond in Thai. I am from Bangkok. I tell people it is because I shine and sparkle like a true diamond when I'm on stage!

You are still young; how big are your dreams?

Big enough, believe me! I know it's impossible to imagine, but I hope it will come true!

What is the best industry advice you have received so far?

I always receive valuable advice and experience from my managers at Riverman Management. They always tell me to think big!

The fierce musicality of what is powerful, brave, and weird...

If you had to file yourself between two artists, who would they be?

Can it be bands? If so: Avenged Sevenfold and Placebo!

Tell us about your new song, Ultraviolet.

It is about following your darkest intuition. Listen to your heart and what it’s trying to tell you. You can never go wrong!

How does it typify your upcoming EP or album?

Even though it’s not my usual style of rock, it came out really great! Plus, I love its strange and cryptic meaning!

What are your ambitions for your first album?

Honestly, it will be my first album; I won’t stress too much about it. I'll enjoy putting in the work and experiencing the journey of it all! Of course I really want people to like me too!

Is there a song you are most excited for people to hear?

Of course, but I won’t tell you... Actually, I am very excited about the music I have coming up. Wait and see!

Lastly, what is the Petch live experience?

It rocks! I am confident and unafraid to show my abilities and talents in front of audiences. I am brave and fierce and proud! Diamonds are pretty tough, after all!
