From New York To Harrogate - Manahatta Arrives In Style

Tucked away off Parliament Street in Harrogate is Manahatta - a New York themed bar and restaurant. I say restaurant but there seems to be more emphasis on the drinks with all cocktails 2 for 1.

If you have never been before it’s a stylish place done out in the style of a Manhattan bar. Once inside you would never know you were in Harrogate and as my partner pointed out to me, you could be anywhere in the world.

Video screens show American artists such as Luther Vandross, Hall and Oates with an emphasis on late 1980’s acts.

There seemed to be a lot of staff on who were all very attentive and were always smiling.

The main draw at the moment is the Festive Feast for £19.95 per person. For that price you get a glass of Prosecco - which surprisingly didn’t taste cheap. You also get a Santa hat too.

Served on a platter are mini Manahatta cheese burgers, which were some of the best items on the board, sidewalk crispy chicken nuggets, sticky chicken skewers, deep fried Camembert (definitely not a Normandy Camembert), pigs in blankets, sage and onion stuffing balls, beetroot cured salmon crostini served with horseradish crenellations fraiche, nachos and a bowl of house fries.

Every item was served hot and apart from the rather bland Camembert tasted good.

Praline Brownies are included as a dessert but on their own seemed rather dry - it would be far better to serve with a scoop of ice cream or a dash of cream.

There was a huge mirror ball hanging from the ceiling which when social distancing becomes a thing of the past will lend itself to have a boogie on the floor. You will probably need this after eating the high calorie induced food.

If you arrive before 4pm there is also a Bottomless Brunch too with Unlimited drinks, with a selection from Prosecco, Bloody Mary, Pint of Corrs along with a few other cocktails. Never Too Much as Luther Vandross is apt to sing.

It’s a bright place and has a youthful energy about it. As we left Glen Frey was playing The Heat is On - it certainly is at Manahatta.
