Dewsbury-based security brand Brisant Secure, has announced a radical plan to be the first UK business to utilise the furlough retention scheme and put it towards a trainee programme for young people.

Like many British businesses, Brisant has placed a number of staff on temporary furlough leave while navigating the COVID-19 crisis, and upon last week’s government announcement will receive a £1,000 bonus for all staff members still employed in January 2021. To Brisant, this amounts to a sum in the region of £50,000.

Brisant, is committing to putting this sum of money towards the development of a trainee scheme, whereby it will invest in the creation of five new jobs for young people aged in the vulnerable 16-24 age bracket. These jobs could sit anywhere within the Brisant structure, from customer care through to product development and marketing.

“We believe the best way we can make a contribution is by investing the staff retention bonus directly into new jobs. This ensures that our capacity to give a next day service on bespoke products stays in front of growing demand”, commented Brisant’s directors Nick Dutton and Steve Stewart.

“By maintaining this service with new jobs, we also bring security for the existing team and more job opportunities, as the business continues to see more demand born from secure products and ad dependable service.”

Brisant Secure is steeped in the history of the locksmith sector and has spearheaded a number of high profile product innovations, from the UK’s most robust door lock to design-led door furniture and patented home security systems. Over the past few years, the firm has seen remarkable growth, and last year Brisant Secure was ranked the 18th fastest growing business in the UK by the Fast Track 100.
