Bizzie Lizzie's Introduce A Healthy Option In Skipton
Graham Clark, Features Writer
Bizzie Lizzie's, Skipton
In reality Fish and Chips should be a healthy meal, fish is full of omega 3 - it is only when cooked in beef dripping that things begin to go downhill, as far as your health is concerned - and your waistline.

The newly refurbished Bizzie Lizzie's on Swadford Street in Skipton have started to cook their fish and chips in gluten free sunflower oil. The question though is do they still taste as good?

Interior of Bizzie Lizzie's
If you want to go for the traditional haddock then it is only available as a jumbo option. Priced at £11.95 the haddock and chips can be cooked in beef dripping or gluten free sunflower oil - you will still have a superb meal whichever version you decide upon.

Apparently the North Atlantic cod is so fresh that eaten side by side with your eyes closed you might not be able to taste the difference between the two.

Gluten-free fish and chips
I found though that the batter on the fish to be lighter when cooked in sunflower oil, the batter was crisper too. The chips were lighter in colour with the skin being harder which meant that the vinegar did not sink into the chips.

I have tried the traditional beef dripping cooked jumbo haddock and chips too and could taste the difference - I still prefer the beef dripping version. By cooking this delightful dish in gluten free sunflower oil it opens up more opportunities to dine for customers who were previously denied access to the glorious fish and chips Bizzie Lizzie's serve.

Vegan friendly chocolate chip and orange pudding
The options do not stop with the main course though - there is now a vegan friendly chocolate chip and orange pudding. You would not know the difference -tangy, tantalising and tasty.

I'm sure that they will continue to be 'Bizzie' with plenty of new customers now thanks to the gluten free and vegan friendly options. Give it a try - you might be surprised.
