An Impish Weekend At The Tail End Of Summer

Think about Lincoln for a long weekend of even a day out before the summer disappears once again. There’s lots to do. Here’s a few ideas:

The Lincoln Imp Trail – until 8th September
Explore the historic sights of Lincoln’s centre by following a trail of 30 colourful imp sculptures.
Created by a mix of amateur and professional artists from Lincoln and beyond, the Imp Trail offers visitors an interactive way to sight-see. The self-guided, outdoor tour allows families to discover Lincoln at their own pace, taking time along the way to visit key sites of the heritage city.

The sculpture trail will run throughout the summer until 8th September 2021 across Lincoln's city centre and highlights the historic city in all its glory. The imps will gather for their goodbye event at Lincoln Castle before being auctioned to raise money for St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice on 1st October 2021 at Lincoln Cathedral.

Lincoln Sightseeing Bus Tour – until 30th September
Discover the history of Lincoln from the roof of the Tour Lincoln open-top sightseeing bus. New for this summer, the bus will bring history to life with live commentary from a tour guide. Find out about the city’s diverse history: from the Magna Carta and the iconic Castle and Cathedral to its role as an aviation centre in the World Wars. The tour lasts just under an hour and stops at the main attractions as well as Brayford Waterfront and the High Street.
The Open Top Tour Bus runs until the 30th September 2021, with departures hourly from 10:30 to 3:30pm.

Treasure Trail
Explore Lincoln’s Cathedral Quarter on the self-guided mystery Treasure Trail. This self-guided tour allows visitors to discover Lincoln’s past in a fun way, all whilst solving different clues. As an independent tour, participants can go at their own pace, which is perfect for larger groups. Trail booklets are available for £9.99 and are designed to be shared between 4-5 people.

Refresh Lincoln – until 4th September
Explore a city-wide installation that shares words from young residents of Lincoln. Inspired by the frustrations of lockdown, local young people have created work that depicts their feelings of isolation. Earlier in the year, Zest Theatre led 34 workshops with over 800 young people aged between 9 – 21, creating a space for them to reflect upon the last year. The workshops have resulted in over 600 quotes demonstrating their ideas. The quotes have been transformed into 80 vibrant works of art, found across Lincoln’s city centre. Refresh Lincoln is a celebration of youthful creativity found in the city’s young people.

Refresh Lincoln runs until 4th September. For more information, please visit: https://www.visitlincoln.com/whats-on/refresh-lincoln

Dog Friendly Weekend at Lincoln Castle – 30th to 31st August
No trip to Lincoln is complete without a visit to the iconic Castle. Dating back to 1068, Lincoln Castle offers its visitors an interactive discovery of British history over the past millennia.

Throughout the summer, guests are invited to bring their dogs along with them to experience the castle. Dogs can accompany their humans on a journey back through history exploring the Medieval Wall Walk, Victorian Prison and the Magna Carta.

The castle grounds are free to enter, with family tickets to see the Medieval Wall Walk, Victorian Prison and Magna Carta available for £37.00.
