‘10 In 10’ - Ash Ramzan

Ash Ramzan, Managing Director and Principal Consultant of Woodley BioReg, a Huddersfield-based consultancy that offers regulatory, quality, and project management services to the healthcare industry, is the latest regional business professional in the hot seat as The Yorkshire, Lancashire & Cumbria Times gives him just 10 minutes to answer our 10 burning questions.

What does a typical working day for you involve?

Getting up around 5am, office by 6am … get ahead of emails and new actions, and then work through client projects and actions. I try to get home before 7pm.

What makes your company special?

We’re small but incredibly good at what we do. We solve complex regulatory problems based on a sound understanding of science and global regulations. We punch well above our weight and we’re respected for our quality and honesty.

Do you have any business rules that you swear by?

Always act honestly and with integrity, even when it’s easy to take a shortcut – and especially when nobody’s going to find out.

Do you dress up or down for work?

It’s usually smart casuals in the office unless I’m meeting clients or attending conferences or exhibitions. Fridays are dress down days unless we have client meetings.

What piece of advice would you give to your 18-year-old self?

Try to stay humanised and do what YOU feel is the right thing today - find your own path.

What’s your favourite Yorkshire venue for an event or team away day?

Anywhere in the open, amid the scenery, we’re in Yorkshire after all!

How do you prefer to travel for business?

I used to enjoy driving but prefer to let the train take the strain these days.

What’s your favourite place in to relax?

Anywhere with a spa!

Where is your favourite place to eat and what dish do you recommend?

I love pasta and traditional, woodfired pizza, but The Three Acres is always a favourite. If there’s fish on the menu, that’ll be for me.

What do you miss most about Yorkshire when you are away?

The people – no nonsense, down to earth … sense of humour – and of course the countryside, there’s so much of it and it’s ALL amazing!
