Student Makeup Artists Are Warpaint Winners
Student make-up artists from The Northern School of Creative Industries wowed judges at a prestigious regional competition to bring home a raft of awards, including the highly-coveted College Cup.

Talented students from the BA (Hons) degree in Media Make-up with Special Effects collected eight individual prizes at the Warpaint North Make-Up Championships 2018 as well as taking away the trophy for best college.

The trophy
Ellie Gribble had an especially successful trip to the key industry event, winning the Rising Star award as well as taking first place in the Film and TV category for her reproduction of the iron burn face from Home Alone. It was a one, two, three for students from the Northern School of Creative Industries, which is part of Bradford College, in the Film and TV category with Ashleigh Morris taking second place and third spot going to Jade Humberstone.

Stacey Clarke won the Classic Beauty Icons category by transforming her model into the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo and Abigail Howat triumphed in the Bodypainting section, taking first place with fellow Bradford college student Lauren Taylor collecting the prize for third place.

There was a third place finish too for Leanne Sharlston in the Runway category. Lisa Dawkins, make-up tutor on Media Make-up with Special Effects degree at The Northern School of Creative Industries, was thrilled with the success.

She said: “I am incredibly proud of the students for achieving their individual awards and the College Cup. “The event was a wonderful opportunity for our students to showcase themselves in front of industry professionals. “They had to work to a specific brief and plan a full look, with hair, make-up and outfit and present a mood board and supporting design work to four industry professional judges.”
