Single price retailer Poundworld has announced the opening of two new stores in Leeds creating 60 new retail jobs for the area.

Officially opening to the public at 10am on Friday 6th April, the first of the new Poundworld stores will be located on Kirkstall Road and will help cost conscious shoppers beat the recession by offering a 'value' alternative to other high street retailers. This store will be followed by the opening of a further outlet at the Merrion Centre, Leeds, in May.

With massive savings on leading brands such as Cadbury's, Coca Cola and Johnson's, the huge store at Kirkstall Road will offer over 5,000 products at the purse friendly price of £1. The vast range includes household essentials, textiles, toiletries and groceries, making it ideal for local shoppers looking to cut the cost of their everyday shop.

Chris Edwards Junior, trading director at Poundworld, said:

"We already have three stores in Leeds at Kirkgate, Crown Point Retail Park and Crossgates and we're really delighted to be opening two new stores, creating 60 new jobs for the town. Busy shoppers can take advantage of the great locations in order to stock up on our fantastic offers and brands.

"We look forward to welcoming customers through our doors and we hope our new stores will prove a big hit with savvy shoppers in Leeds.

Poundworld plans to help more shoppers in the UK minimise the cost of everyday living by opening a further 40 stores by the end of 2012. Yorkshire-based, Poundworld was founded in 1997 and has over 130 stores across the UK.

Leeds is also home to Poundworld's sister brand, Discount UK with a store in the St. John's Centre.
