Poundworld Express: new convenience store format
Six-figure investment creates 15 local retail jobs
Recession busting offers on over 1,000 essential products

Officially opening to the public at 10am on Thursday 26th January, the new Poundworld Express store at 23 Westmoreland Street will help cost-conscious shoppers beat the recession by offering a convenient 'value' alternative to other high street retailers.

With massive savings on leading brands such as Fairy, Coca Cola and Johnson's, Poundworld Express offers over 1,000 popular products for the purse friendly price of £1. The vast range includes household essentials like cleaning products and toiletries, making it ideal for local shoppers looking for a low-cost one stop shop.

Chris Edwards Junior, trading director at Poundworld Express, said: "Wakefield is a great city - we already have a Poundworld store at The Ridings Shopping Centre and we're very happy to be launching our new convenience store format here too. Poundworld Express aims to offer the best possible value for one low price in a convenient space and we hope it will prove a big hit with savvy shoppers across Wakefield.

"Families across the UK are seeking better deals and bigger savings to combat the rising cost of everyday living, so we look forward to welcoming shoppers in Wakefield and invite them to take advantage of the deep-cut offers available."

Following the success of the first Poundworld Express opening in Bradford, the company plans to roll out multiple high street locations of the new format over the next year.

Yorkshire-based, Poundworld was founded in 1997 and now has over 130 stores across the UK.
