Liv Austen - A Moment Of Your Time
Jeremy Williams-Chalmers, Arts Correspondent
London based Norwegian actress/model/singer/songwriter Liv Austen has steadily been building her presence on the UK country circuit over the last few years. Initially known for her striking balladry, Austen has over the course of her more recent singles shown that she is aiming more the playful pop country crown shared by the likes of Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris and Lauren Alaina, rather than aiming to take the place of Lori McKenna or Lucie Silvas. After a rather extended build-up to the release of her debut album, A Moment Of Your Time, has she chosen where she fits in the country marketplace?

Interestingly Austen has refused to bracketed into either box, and in fact delivers an album that showcases her understanding of the ever changing definition of Country music, while also an understanding of both pop and R'n'B. A Moment In Your Time is an album that manages to flit between traditional roots and explosive pop without ever losing the listener's attention in the switching styles.

As a result Austen places herself in a unique position. She is an artist who fits on the playlists of BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2 and even BBC 6Music - for she is an artist who does not compromise her output to fit within a pigeonhole, she instead centres her songwriting on her identity and distinctive ability to really connect with the listener at their very core.

Although the album is not without highlights, notably Window Shopping, Don't Regret A Single One, Whole Heart and But I Know I Love Him, it is an album that is without the need to skip ahead.

Having taken her time to build towards her debut album, Austen has ensured that the record will mean she will occupy more than just A Moment Of Your Time. Just as her fleeting appearance on hit TV series Humans made a lasting impression on the viewers and saw her tipped for greater roles, her debut album showcases her striking talent and will just be the starting point of an exciting recording career.
