Launch Of The Great Northern Christmas Book

On a lovely Autumn afternoon why would you contemplate all the festive food connected with Christmas. When the sun is shining it is hard to think of turkey and mince pies.

Well Booths in Ilkley were launching their Great Northern Christmas Book and the Yorkshire Times were invited.

On arrival we sampled their wonderful champagne, and from there we tasted party food of all descriptions. It was great to be able to meet and talk to the local suppliers. We sampled smoked salmon, venison sausage, Frank Dale mini cheeseburgers, mini desserts, mini dessert canapes, Italian panettone and of course the traditional all butter mince pies and stollen bites which were delicious.

We were very impressed with Truefood's gourmet terrines, which are all made without flavour enhancers or additives, using the best local ingredients. All varieties looked delicious but our favourite was the Mackenzies hot smoked salmon with hollandaise and leek tartlet.

Another firm favourite with the Yorkshire Times was the range of mouthwatering mini-morsels party food packs. We sampled the Brie de Meaux and cranberry filo tart, the Oriental Thai fish cake, Red Thai Vegetable pastry ball and Chicken Tikka sticks, to name but a few.

Booths is rightly proud of its Northern heritage. Since 1847, the fine food and drink retailer has tracked down the finest suppliers, helped to support local farmers and brought some of the region's great forgotten foods back to our plates. This year Booths is offering the definitive Great Northern Christmas to gourmands across Britain, offering nationwide delivery.

Customers can pick up a copy of the Booths Christmas Book in store from October 7th for free. Orders close at midnight on December 15th.
