Gig Review: John Newman

It has been a busy but very successful year for Settle's John Newman. He has had two #1 singles and a #1 album in the UK and his UK success has been repeated across America, Europe and Australia.

He has performed at Settle's Victoria Hall last October and London's 4,000 capacity Brixton Academy this October. His Tribute tour came to an end at Wolverhampton's Civic Hall culminating two years of hard work.

The gig started with a video screen showing footage of various TV shows he has appeared on across the globe before he appears at the back of the stage rising up from a podium. The show kicks off with Blame, his recent #1 track that he co- wrote and performed with Calvin Harris.

Having performed the tracks off his Tribute album so many times on tour he has re-worked some of the tracks to keep them fresh and it does work!

What follows is the best tracks of his career so far. He dedicates the show to all the people who have contributed and supported his career, not surprisingly his manager, the fans and his mum. He jokes with the audience about her not being at the gig tonight.

The lighting is superb and as he performs Gold, the stage is bathed in golden light.

The touring has gained him valuable experience and he is now appears more at ease on stage.

The encore is saved for his own break through hit, Love Me Again. He performs the track like his life depends on it.

He invites his touring crew and the rest of his band to join him at the front of the stage to celebrate the end of the tour before he goes down to greet the fans at the front of the stalls.

It was a proud night for this Yorkshire man. This chapter might be over but be assured there are many more chapters to come in the future.
