Ted Zed
Sonic innovator Ted Zed has stolen our hearts at Yorkshire Times.

With his distinctive sound and colourful imagery, Zed is unlike his contemporaries. While he may lean on retro influences, Zed is so forward thinking that we know his new single 'Believe' is just a building block towards super stardom.

When did you first realise you wanted to make music?

I've always loved experimenting with sounds and I used to have these songs in the back of my mind that i was desperate to share with the world, to me it's the best thing in the world to be able to translate your ideas into something lots of people can enjoy and relate to.

If you could go back to that day, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

Don't be afraid of mistakes, they're key to building that next step, sounds cheesy but it's really true.

What is your writing process?

I usually have an idea that visits me at the worst of times normally when I'm a sleep and I wake up and record it into my phone and then it's just a case of turning that segment into a whole song and when it works I can pretty much tell if it's going to become something good
and when that happens it's usually done within the day.

Where do you look for inspiration?

New music, revisiting my favourite artists, seeing things, feeling things, everything can potentially be inspiration, it's this cyclical process you can either choose to open yourself up to or ignore it.

If your music were a person, what would their personality be? Where do you think it would live?

It would Probably live on the moon, it would have the personality of Chuck Norris and the looks of Jennifer Lawrence.

If you had to cite your biggest three influences, what would they be?

The Beatles, David Bowie, Damon Albarn

What are your three favourite records of the moment?

T-Rex - T-Rex
Primal Scream - Screamadelica
Mac Demarco - Salad Days
