Interview: Shel

Sisters Shel have been compared to Haim for rather obvious reasons, but anyone who has heard their sensational new album Just Crazy Enough will know that there is something distinctive about the troupe. With an interesting array of influences clear on the album, we asked the girls to let us in to their record collection to find out which artists they most enjoy.

We asked them what songs make them...

Smile

Harry Nilsson - 'Everything's Got 'Em'
Escaping into Nilsson's rock opera is a regular habit.

Contemplate

Pink Floyd - 'Us and Them'
My favorite song to listen to on a plane or train, or laying in the park staring up at the clouds.

Cry

Chopin's Berceuse Op 57.
This may be the most beautiful compositions on the planet.

Laugh

Ivor Cutler - 'I Need Nothing, I've everything I need'.
I'm pretty sure it's impossible not to laugh listening to this gem.

Want to work out

There is not a song on the planet that could make me want to work out.

Reminisce

The Beatles 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'
The love of my life.

Relax

Ranga - 'Mahadev'
My brother introduced me to this one, so it serves as a cure for homesickness as well.

Feel Determined

Led Zeppelin - 'When the Levee Breaks'
I feel there's no explanation necessary here.

Dance

Stevie Wonder - 'Superstition'
I can't hold still when this song comes on.

'Just Crazy Enough' is released May 27th.
