Hattie Briggs
Hattie Briggs is one of the folk words most interesting talents. The former Oxford student quit her Russian degree and embarked on a recording career.

With her new album Young Runaway already proving popular with critics, we caught up with her to find out what song always makes her...

Smile

"We Have All The Time In The World" by Louis Armstrong - he's just so cool and his voice is like chocolate.

Contemplate

"The World Spins Madly On" by The Weepies - it has a wisdom and an infinite quality to it. It's also quite hypnotic.

Cry

"That'll do Babe" by Peter Gabriel from the Babe soundtrack - it was Sir Terry Wogan's favourite song and it's just so beautiful, sweet and emotive.

Laugh

"The Ballad of Barry and Freda (Let's Do It)" by Victoria Wood - just hilariously clever and funny.

Want to work out

"Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor - it has a great beat and has been on my gym playlist for as long as I can remember. It's also about winning battles.

Reminisce

"Pinball Wizard" by Elton John - we used to play Elton John in the car a lot while I was growing up and this was one of my favourites. A friend and I made up a dance to it once and performed it our parents.

Relax

Anything by James Taylor - he's my hero and I love everything about his music. His voice is so warm and comforting like an old friend. I feel very at home when I listen to him.

Feel Determined

You're The Voice by John Farnham - such a great power ballad, filled with words of self-motivation and production that engulfs you as you listen.

Dance

"Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen - it's about having a good time and everybody knows all the words. Freddie Mercury's charisma is overpowering and irresistible.
