Huddersfield Town’s Humble Warriors Rise Again And Fight Back - In True Muhammad Ali Fashion!
Mohammed Bhana, Huddersfield Town Football Ambassador
The legendary Muhammad Ali once said:
“Never step on others to get ahead.”

It is Life’s golden rule really – treat others how you’d like to be treated yourself.

Even though he was the most famous man in the world - he would take the time to go out of his way to put a smile on the faces of his fans.

Ali would make the person everyone else would not pay any attention to, feel like a million dollars.

In 2018 - his teachings perhaps are more important than ever and have more meaning.

I don’t have a personal account on social media, I prefer to read or mess about with my kids than keep up with friends on social media – it’s just not my kind of thing.

However, Mrs B keeps me updated on whatever is happening – constantly showing me pictures of Town players happily posing with fans before and after games.

Indeed, I witnessed it first-hand, after the Man City game.

My father in-law looks a great deal like David Wagner, and after seeing the Town Manager leave the John Smith’s Stadium, my five year old latched onto Wagner, believing him to be his grandad.

Wagner nonchalantly smiled, picked my son up and posed for photographs before being surrounded by other fans, who also wanted a picture.

Not only did Herr Wagner oblige, he took his time.

This fan/player relationship is special. What I have seen at Town is something else. All credit is due to Dean Hoyle for masterminding such a great sense of togetherness and spirit into the club.

This brings me to my next point – after the FA Cup win over Birmingham City, Town showed the world, they are ready to fight with the best in true Muhammad Ali fashion.

Granted, a few losses may have hurt, but if you look at Ali’s career and compare it with Town’s recent history – we find that there will be times when things do not always go according to plan, but if you keep the faith along with passion, desire and vision - you can achieve whatever you want in the most difficult of circumstances.

Ali once said:
“Impossible is a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in a world they live in than to explore the power they have to change it.

“Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”

Dean Hoyle
Manchester who? Real who? Abramovich’s Chelsea and the Sheikh’s at City may have the millions; we have Dean and Janet Hoyle, two absolutely amazing individuals who are living proof that impossible is nothing!

Furthermore, the stone cold tenacity of the Commercial Director, Sean Jarvis and his team will ensure this club will never be sold short.

It’s great to see that the fans who supported the club during the dark days are respected and looked after, this is because Huddersfield Town is a club with a soul, devoid of the paraphernalia and excess that is often associated with football.

Huddersfield Town is a proper football club and our humble champions will rise again – bring on Bournemouth in the Premier League and bring on Manchester United in the FA Cup!
