Hotel Launches Foraging Experience For Diners
Guests at The Forest Side, Grasmere, will be able to immerse themselves in the Lake District this spring with the launch of an exclusive foraging package.

The Michelin-starred and Good Food Guide Top 50 restaurant and rooms prides itself in its use of locally sourced and foraged ingredients, with the whole Forest Side experience designed to be a reflection of the landscape in which it sits.

The gourmet package will allow guests to not only indulge in Head Chef Kevin Tickle’s cooking, but also to join Chef and his team on a foraging excursion of their own, taking to the surrounding fields, fell tops and Cumbrian woodland to source the freshest Lake District produce.

Born and bred in Cumbria and previously Head Forager at Simon Rogan’s L’Enclume, Tickle has an encyclopaedic knowledge and life-long passion for sourcing edible and delicious species direct from the surrounding landscape.

Guests enjoying the one-night foraging package will arrive at The Forest Side on a Sunday, where they will dine before steeling themselves for a day of foraging on the Monday.

Stopping off at various locations, guests will learn the top tips and tricks for eating on the wild side. Tickle will advise how to seek out and cook with spring plants including wild garlic, sorrel, scarlet elf cup mushrooms and sweet cicely. Later in the season, plunders will include the likes of elderflower, wild cherries, and chanterelle. A Michelin-starred picnic lunch will end the excursion, allowing guests to sample delicacies made from previous foraging hauls whilst taking in the surrounding landscape in which the produce grows.
