Grants For Ingleborough Conservation Projects

Thanks to National Lottery players, Clapham-based charity Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust (YDMT) is able to offer funding for a range of conservation projects in the Ingleborough area.

The grants are part of Stories in Stone, a four-year programme of community and heritage projects developed by the Ingleborough Dales Landscape Partnership, which is led by YDMT and mainly funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Stories in Stone Heritage Grants of up to £5,000 are available for projects that restore, celebrate or increase understanding of Ingleborough's natural or historical features.

Projects supported by previous grants include a series of walk leaflets about archaeological features on Ingleborough, the restoration of a Victorian drinking fountain, and an interpretation panel about a historical wash dub. Restoration work to the picturesque Thorns Gill Bridge, near Ribblehead, is also being supported by a Heritage Grant.

Chris Lodge, YDMT's Stories in Stone Project Officer, said:
"The grant scheme provides great opportunities for residents to help protect the rich historical and natural heritage of the Ingleborough area.

"If you have an idea for a local heritage project I'd be delighted to hear from you and I can help you to develop your grant application."

The deadline for applications is 10am on Tuesday 3 October. For more information contact Chris by emailing chris.lodge@ydmt.org or by phoning 015242 51002. The grant guidance and application forms can also be downloaded from www.ydmt.org/resources
