Got The Blues Compilation (Universal)
Graham Clark, Features Writer
They call this new compilation, " The Story of the Soul of America".
Spread over 4 CD's the compilation kicks off with the Muddy Walters classic Mannish Boy. Known as the father of modern Chicago blues, the Walters track was first recorded in 1955 written as an answer song to the Bo Diddley song, I'm A Man, which is also included on this superlative compilation.
Elsewhere there is the unforgettable I Just Want To Make Love To You by Etta James, I Cant Stop Loving You by Ray Charles who also contributes Goodbye/We'll Be Together Again. Fats Domino with Blueberry Hill and Robert Johnson with Sweet Home Chicago are other classics you will find included here.
From a more modern perspective the late Gary Moore is included with his track Still Got The Blues, the former Thin Lizzy guitarist went down the blues road towards the latter part of his career.
With big names featured such as Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Albert King and Chuck Berry amongst others the compilation appears to a definitive collection.
I rate the album 4 out of 5
