George's Dining Room And Bar, Worsley

Opened 4 years ago by Ryan Giggs and two of his school friends, Kelvin Gregory and Bernie Taylor, George's is easily reached being literally just off Junction 13 of the M60.

Apparently Worsley, where the restaurant is located is Ryan Giggs home village. It would be ideal to visit if you were to do some shopping at the Trafford Centre.

You wouldn't know that Giggs was anything to do with the stylish restaurant and bar as there is no football memorabilia about or any mention of the footballing legend.

Our fellow diners were couples and female parties during our mid week visit. The only thing that gave anything away was the number of 4x4's parked in the smallish car park when we arrived.

The vehicles might have been expensive but the food is certainly not and the quality is excellent too.

Baked Camembert

It is a place where you could dress up or go casual, it seems a popular place.

It is a warm, cosy place with good service and a friendly atmosphere.

On a Monday night all starters are £5.00, mains £10.00 and desserts £5.00, they also have an early bird set menu from Monday to Saturday where 2 courses are £13.95 and 3 courses £16.95.

The starter of mini Chorizos at £3.95 were as good as any I have tasted and they were more than enough to share.

I decided upon the baked Camembert which was creamy, not surprising when it was President Camembert from Normandy. I would have preferred it served with some French baguette rather than the sour dough bread it came with.

My partner's Yellow Fin Tuna was nicely presented and although it might have looked minimal the taste was excellent.

The Cheeseburger, fries and onion rings I had for my main was very beefy and wholesome, it tasted like a proper burger.

My partner's Sirloin was tender and cooked to her preference.

Desserts are priced from £5.95. My Sticky Toffee Pudding was just that, very sticky and served with clotted ice cream. Perfect. My partner's Pear Cheesecake was tangy and tasty.

All seemed like it belonged in the premier league of good value restaurants.
