Download Festival - Sunday

Richie Sambora
Richie Sambora
The drizzle might have arrived by Sunday but that did not stop anyone enjoying the festival.

Buckcherry had the task of waking up the crowd with an early afternoon set. They brought some Californian sunshine to the day with their blend of LA rock. All Night Long was the standout track of their set.

Richie Sambora might have been the lead guitarist in Bon Jovi but these days he is a solo artist and his set took a more blues influenced mood, The Bon Jovi track, Dead or Alive lent itself to a blues burnout.

Joe Bonamassa
Joe Bonamassa
Joe Bonamassa is one of the best guitarists of his generation, with a simple black backdrop and no gimmicks; he let the music do the talking. Slow Train Coming sounded as good as it does in recorded form.

Volbeat
Volbeat
Volbeat might seem to be heavily influenced by Metallica but these Danish rockers have a melodic side to them too as Wherever She Goes demonstrated

Steel Panther
Steel Panther
Whatever your opinion on Steel Panther, you have to admit they put on a good show and are very entertaining. Some might say it has been done all before with Spinal Tap but their take on the 80's metal bands such as Van Halen and Motley Crue is pure magic. Their 10 song set was over way too soon.

Alterbridge were one of the most radio friendly acts on the bill on Sunday, Isolation and Ties That Bind were tracks that will still sound good in 10 years time.

Aerosmith
Aerosmith
Areosmith are one of the biggest rock acts in the world, Steven Tyler is one of the best front men in rock. His showmanship and command of the audience is a lesson that all rock bands should learn. Their set read like a greatest hits album: I Don't Want To Miss A Thing, Love in an Elevator and Living on the Edge brought Donington alive and the group were the perfect band to end a perfect weekend
