Cry Havoc And Let Slip The Dogs Of War
Richard Trinder, Editor
Today's Sun and Express Front Pages
Is this it?

Is this really the result of years of training, apprenticeship, of relentless application to the 'art of journalism'?

Is this drivel really the pinnacle of achievement for our nation's Press?

Will they look back on this week and say, with unalloyed pride to their grandchildren, "see how we contributed so positively to the public debate at this critical moment in the country's history".

I think not.

This is shameful political assassination. It benefits nobody (with the possible exception of some shareholders).

It is time to stop.

It's time for the Rottweilers to be shoved back in their kennels and muzzled.

They Don't Pay. We Won't Pay
Take a leaf out of the Jacob Rees-Mogg playbook. Not a man I feel well-disposed towards too often, but this morning (on the Today programme) he had the common decency to play the ball and not the man. He disagreed wholeheartedly with Speaker Bercow's decision (forcing a Plan B from Mrs May), but supported his integrity. An attitude our leading tabloids seem either not to understand or have actively decided to avoid.

And as to those MPs who called for Bercow's pension to be axed - they are so far up their own backsides they can no longer even see the moral high ground, let alone reach for it. But that's another story.

With integrity of journalists and their editors at such low levels, and an unholy alliance of the US President and rogue states defaming the Press en-masse, then surely the best strategy would be to head for the high ground - the moral high ground in this case.
