Album Review: Synth Pop (Sony Music)

If you have thrown away all your old cassettes this new compilation might be the one you are looking for. Obviously aimed at anyone who grew up in the late 70's and early 80's, this compilation brings together all those tracks that were keyboard based and relied heavily on the synthesiser.

Tracks that sound even good now and which are included on the album include Gary Numan and Cars (who can forget that huge riff?), Duran and Duran and The Reflex, Visage and Fade To Grey (featuring Steve Strange who sadly passed away earlier this year), Soft Cell with Tainted Love (who remembers when Marc Almond worked in the cloakroom at the Warehouse in Leeds in the early 1980's?), Howard Jones with What Is Love? And Tears for Fears with Everybody Wants to Rule The World.

Over 3 CD's the album brings back many memories and shows how many of these artists influenced some of today's artists. The haircuts might have been silly but these tracks contain some classic English pop tracks.
