Album Review: One Direction - Four (Syco)

One Direction's new album will probably appeal to the parents of the group's young fans. It is certainly an unexpected surprise and at times the songs sound like soft American rock of the 1980's and at times even Bruce Springsteen! Yes, that's right, there are a lot of Springsteen comparisons on the album.

It is an album that is hard not to like, it is full of uplifting songs although some of the tracks are of its time too. The Ed Sheeran song he wrote for the album, 18, sounds just like one of his songs and you know straight away who wrote the song!

Ready to Run is another case in point, you could imagine Avicci doing the track with its acoustic guitar hook it even has an electric guitar on the song towards the latter end which sounds like U2's The Edge.

Night Changes is a ballad that could be a Dr Hook or Smokie song, you can see where I am coming from when I say that the album will appeal to a wider audience. No Control sounds like an anthem that will sound good played in stadiums.

Listen without prejudice, you might be surprised.
