Album Review - Example - Live Life Loving (Epic Records)

Example has been one of the big dance acts over the last few years. After a few successful years on Ministry of Sound the band moved to a major label last year and this is the first release on Sony records.

The first two singles released off the album All the Wrong Places and Kids veered away from their traditional sound with Example trying a harder dance sound, it did not translate to higher sales as both singles did not sell as well as the older tracks.

In view of this Example returned to a more commercial sound and the current single One More Day (Stay with Me) is now one of their biggest hits and is sitting in the UK Top Ten singles chart this week. Harking back to a classic house music sound it is the type of track that will sound great from Iceland to Ibiza this summer.

The album will sound to older dance fans like a trip down memory lane, to younger fans it will sound fresh to other dance tracks out at the moment. Live Life Loving is a great title as the album sounds like they are living for the moment. The song itself is a typical Example track.

Only Human sounds like Gary Numan meets David Guetta, whilst 10 Million People fuses house music beats with a subtle melody. Take Me As I Am is heavily influenced by The Prodigy whilst the album closes with Longest Goodbye sees the band in more reflective mood with early 90's dance act, Enigma being a strong influence.

When the band plays Bingley Music Live at the end of August these tracks will have everyone moving.

I rate the album 3 out of 5.

Album is out on Monday 7 July 2014.
